Mopar Magnum Coolant in the Oil: How to Find the Source

The Magnum V6 and V8 share an architecture that limits where coolant can reach oil. Run the tests in the order that eliminates the most
1. Combustion leak (block) test. With the engine at temperature and the coolant level dropped below the neck, draw cooling system air through the test fluid. Why the front cover deserves a real look
The one source people skip is the front of the engine. The water pump mounts to the timing chain cover and coolant is routed through that area, which means the cover's sealing surfaces are what separate coolant from the oil behind them. A cover that has corroded at a sealing land, a gasket installed dry or without the correct sealant at the joints, or a pump that has been weeping long enough to erode the mating face can all put coolant into the crankcase with a completely healthy set of head gaskets.
The tell is a pressure test that loses coolant cold with nothing visible at the heads and nothing in the valley, plus staining or coolant tracking behind the pulley area.
