What it does

A tuner rewrites the calibration the engine runs on -- fuelling, timing, boost and shift behaviour -- and gives you live monitoring of what the engine is actually doing. It is also how you correct for the hardware you have added, and how you watch EGT and rail pressure so a problem shows up as a number before it shows up as a repair.
