What it does

The injection pump makes the pressure the injectors meter. When it fails it can take the whole fuel system with it: a grenading CP4 sends metal through the rails, lines and injectors. A new or reman pump restores rail pressure, and on a known-weak pump a conversion is cheaper than the failure.

• Confirm the oil and coolant feed arrangement matches your engine
