What it does

The flexplate connects the crank to the torque converter and carries the ring gear the starter engages. Cracked flexplates knock at idle and grind on start; the wrong bolt pattern or offset will not bolt up. A new plate with the correct pattern and ring-gear tooth count restores quiet starts.
